I have this supreme feeling of Deja Vu….

As I am sure you have all realized, LOTR Radio is not currently in production. While I sometimes feel the urge to podcast, for the time being I do not have the time. I do hope to continue someday, but of course I make no promises.

I will certainly leave all of the old episodes online for anyone who is interested in them.

I want to thank everyone for listening and for their support and encouragement.

Sorry for the long time between posts.  There IS another episode coming.  Episode 2.2 will be released in May.

This may change again, but you can be sure ep 2.2 will be about the theme of love in Tolkien’s work.

Digg’s got a new podcast directory, which hopefully will bring more exposure to The Lord of the Rings Radio network. Go to digg.com, register (if you aren’t already), and “digg” your favorite podcasts. It’s a great place to find new stuff to listen to.

Apparently there is an approval process, so you probably can’t see the podcast on digg.com just yet…

I’ve been meaning to get episode 2.1 finished and published over the last few nights. Unfortunately, I’ve been sick, so I get home from work, take some medicine and fall asleep by 9:00. That’s not a schedule that is conducive for podcasting. Anyway, I’m feeling a little better today, and I hope to get 2.1 wrapped up soon. Sorry for the delay, and thanks for understanding.

I have some exciting news for Tolkien fans! I have been in contact with Silime at Crystal Clear Tolkien over the past month. Together, we have decided to create The Lord of the Rings Radio Network.

What is The Lord of the Rings Radio Network you ask? Well, it is a podcast network for Tolkien fanatics. The network will allow you to come to one location, lotrradio.com, to get your Tolkien podcast fix. Each partner podcast will still operate independently, but information on each podcast as well as direct downloads, rss feeds, iTunes links, and creator communication will all be available at lotrradio.com.

At the moment The LOTR Radio Network has two partner members: my podcast, which will no longer be called LOTR Radio, but is now The Return of the Podcast, and Silime’s podcast Crystal Clear Tolkien.

We hope to attract other regular podcasters to our network. This creates a great opportunity for those who are interested in doing some sort of podcast but perhaps are not ready for the technicalities of podcast publishing and distribution. Provided that your podcast is Tolkien related and you can get it recorded, LOTR Radio will put it up for you! Once your podcast is recorded you can be as involved (or uninvolved) as you like in it’s publishing and promotion. Also, for those who want to contribute on a short term basis with no commitment, we will be planning (if there is enough interest) short podcast series on various topics that will be guest hosted.

We would love to hear what you think about these changes! Interested in helping? Let us know! Have an idea for a podcast or series? Tell us about it!

I’m working on a redesign of this site to fit our new form, hope to have it up soon…on that note, if anyone out there is into design, is familiar with the CMS XOOPS, and would like to help out with design for this website, let me know.

I plan to begin the recording of episode 2.1 this weekend (1/19-1/21). I’m trying something different with this episode. In the past I would just sit down with my headset and churn out an episode without any written preparation. For 2.1 I’ve written most of the episode out, which hopefully will both improve the quality and make for quicker recording. I hope to have 2.1 ready for download by the end of the month at the latest.

I came across another Tolkien related podcast last week and I wanted to make sure you all know about it. The author is Silime and she has released 3 episodes so far. Her sound quality is excellent, and she seems to know what she’s talking about. Be sure it check Crystal Clear Tolkien out!
